The FBI’s UCR Program collects statistics on the number of offenses known to law enforcement. In the traditional Summary Reporting System (SRS), there are eight crimes, or Part I offenses, (murder and nonnegligent homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, larceny-theft, and arson) to be reported to the UCR Program. The Richmond Heights Police Department responded to 36 traffic accidents in the month of March 2020. This is down from the 64 accidents that were handled in March 2019*. For the year, we have responded to 157 accidents. This is 41 less than the same time period in 2019*.
*This decrease can be attributed, in part, to the significant drop in vehicle traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
