The Richmond Heights Police Department responded to 64 traffic accidents in December 2020. This is down from the 84 accidents that were handled in December 2019*. For the year, we have responded to 538 accidents. This is 306 less than the same time period in 2019*. It should be noted that this includes accidents that occur on private property. For accidents that occurred only on public roadways, we responded to 497 in 2020. This was significantly less than the 778 we responded to in 2019*. *This decrease can be attributed, in part, to the significant drop in vehicle traffic due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The FBI’s UCR Program collects statistics on the number of offenses known to law enforcement. In the traditional Summary Reporting System (SRS), there are eight crimes, or Part I offenses, (murder and nonnegligent homicide, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, larceny-theft, and arson) to be reported to the UCR Program.
