Richmond Heights Police Department and OfferUp is proud to announce our partnership.
Our MeetUp Spot program will help provide an easy and free way to establish a community location that is public, well lit, and monitored by the police department, while conducting ebay, Craigslist, OfferUp, and other internet transactions.
The MeetUp Spot will be inside the vestibule at 7447 Dale Avenue (Public Safety Building) and will be available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week.
You should conduct your transaction inside the vestibule so that it will be monitored with video surveillance.

With the potential threat of significant icing beginning Friday the 13th we ask that you remain off the roadways if at all possible. If you must go out BE PREPARED. Roads could be closed due to icing, accidents or fallen trees/power lines. Any one of these may cause you to be stuck on the roads for some time. At a minimum you should have proper clothing (including hat and gloves), a blanket, drinking water, window scraper, cell phone (with charger) and a full tank of gas. Please be careful!!!!
Vehicle break-ins are an all too common crime in Richmond Heights and the region. We highly recommend that you secure your vehicles by locking all doors and removing any items of value. If you are unable to remove valuable items from your car, please conceal them so that they are not visible. This is especially important if you leave your vehicle for long periods of time in commuter lots or parking garages. This type of crime is a crime of opportunity. Don’t give criminals an opportunity to victimize you.
It’s that time of year again. Every year, the Richmond Heights Police Department takes several reports of vehicles stolen while their owners warm them up in the morning. Please don’t give crooks a chance to take your car. The few early minutes of warmth is just not worth it.
#1 Tip – Holiday Season Shopping means lots of parked cars gathered in shopping centers, large restaurants, and parking garages – this is a ripe opportunity for criminals. Most of the recent auto thefts involved valuables left in plain view. The Richmond Heights Police Department reminds you to always lock your vehicles, even if leaving them for only a few moments, and stash your valuables OUT OF VIEW before you park. This includes any gifts and goods that you may accumulate as you shop.

With the hectic holiday season, RHPD reminds you to be aware of your surroundings while shopping. We hope that you patronize all of our wonderful businesses and restaurants in the area who have been working very hard to make this a great holiday shopping season for those who live, work and shop in Richmond Heights!! Please take a moment to ensure that you and your family remain safe and have great holiday season.
BEFORE YOU SHOP
- Carry a cell phone if you have one.
- Carry only small amounts of cash
- Shop during daylight hours whenever possible—or go with a friend if you shop at night (or the pre-dawn sales).
- Carry keys, credit cards and cash separate from each other.
- Be extremely careful and watchful when using ATM machines.
- Wear conservative, comfortable clothing, and minimal jewelry.
- While driving, keep your doors locked and windows rolled up – including in the parking lot.
- Maintain at least half a tank of fuel
WHILE SHOPPING
- If you have to carry a purse, carry it close to your body and keep it zipped.
- Park close to where you are going and park in a well-lit area.
- Heighten your awareness – be aware of your surroundings and who is nearby.
- Grip carried items firmly and do not leave them unattended.
- Do not overload yourself with packages to maintain visibility and freedom of motion, and to avoid mishaps.
- Pay for purchases with a check or credit card when possible.
- When hurried or in a crowded shop, take the time to make sure you get all forms of ID and credit cards returned to you before leaving.
- Notify the credit card issuer immediately if your credit card is lost or stolen.
- Keep a record of all credit card numbers in a safe place at home.
- Keep a close eye on children while shopping.
AFTER SHOPPING
- Leave the mall before closing time; it is safer to walk out of the mall with other people.
- Be aware of strangers approaching you for any reason. At this time of year, “con-artists” may try various methods of distraction with the intent of taking your money or belongings.
- Use an escort or mall security if you have a lot of packages or if you are leaving the mall after closing.
- When returning to your vehicle, carry your keys in your hand and be ready to unlock the door and enter as quickly as possible.
- Check under your car as you approach it; this is a common spot for criminals to hide.
- Check the interior of your car before entering.
AT HOME
- After opening gifts, break down cardboard boxes of expensive electronics and put them somewhere out of public view prior to disposal, to hide the fact you have new high-value items in your home.

 Bank Robbery Suspect On 2/29/16 at 2:16pm a bank robbery occurred at Pulaski Bank located at 6510 Clayton Rd, Richmond Heights, MO 63117.
After entering the bank, the suspect handed a note to the teller demanding money and implying he had a gun. After receiving money from the teller, the suspect took his note back and left the store.
The suspect left the area on foot, heading east. He entered St. Mary’s Hospital (6420 Clayton Rd), through their west entrance. One minute later, he exited the hospital through their east entrance. Moments later, he left the area in a taxi cab.
The suspect is described as a white/male, approximately 40 years of age. 5’10”, med to heavy build, dark hair, clean shaven. Wearing blue jeans, black hat and a grey hoodie with what appears to be a “Rams” on the front (see above photo).

Each year at this time the Richmond Heights PD responds to calls for stolen cars that have been left running and unattended to warm up. Please do not leave your vehicle unattended while running or with the keys in it. As always, don’t leave valuable personal property inside your vehicle. Report suspicious behavior in your neighborhoods to police immediately.
